Ultrasensitive Detections of Weak Resonances ─ Application to Optical Frequency Standards
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present our latest results on the ultrasensitive molecular overtone spectroscopy using the cavity-enhanced frequency modulation (FM) technique. The principle of this technique makes use of a high-finesse external cavity to enhance the intrinsic resonance contrast, while an FM modulation approach provides shot-noise limited signal recovery. Working with a 1.064 m Nd:YAG laser, we have obtained subDoppler overtone resonances of C2HD, C2H2 and CO2 molecules. A detection sensitivity of 5 x10 of integrated absorption (1 x 10 / cm) over 1-s averaging time has been achieved. The resultant high signal-to-noise ratio of the weak resonance produces excellent laser frequency stabilization.

متن کاملUltrasensitive Terahertz Biosensors Based on Fano Resonance of a Graphene/Waveguide Hybrid Structure
Graphene terahertz (THz) surface plasmons provide hope for developing functional devices in the THz frequency. By coupling graphene surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) and a planar waveguide (PWG) mode, Fano resonances are demonstrated to realize an ultrasensitive terahertz biosensor. By analyzing the dispersion relation of graphene SPPs and PWG, the tunable Fano resonances in the terahertz frequ...
متن کاملUltrasensitive detection of a protein by optical trapping in a photonic-plasmonic microcavity.
Microcavity and whispering gallery mode (WGM) biosensors derive their sensitivity from monitoring frequency shifts induced by protein binding at sites of highly confined field intensities, where field strengths can be further amplified by excitation of plasmon resonances in nanoparticle layers. Here, we propose a mechanism based on optical trapping of a protein at the site of plasmonic field en...
